How to keep your nails beautiful
General advice, without brand names. A question about your own treatment? Feel free to ask at your appointment.
For every treatment
- Do not use your nails as tools to open, scratch or pry things loose.
- Wear gloves when you clean or work with water and cleaning products.
- Apply cuticle oil or a nourishing hand cream to your cuticles and hands every day.
- Keep your nails dry and clean and do not soak them in hot water for long.
Gel polish
- Do not pull or peel gel polish off: you take a layer of your own nail with it. Have it removed.
- Use cuticle oil every day, it keeps the edges supple.
- See an edge lifting? Book an appointment before you try to fix it yourself.
BIAB
- Use cuticle oil every day.
- Do not file the top yourself and do not use sharp objects under the edge.
- Have your BIAB refilled as soon as the nail has visibly grown out, rather than waiting until it starts to lift.
Acrylic and gel
- Do not cut or break off artificial nails. Have them filed or removed.
- Notice a nail lifting or water getting underneath? Make an appointment soon, so no moisture stays trapped.
- Come back for a refill on time. Do not wait until the nail has grown out too far.
Pedicure
- Moisturise your feet every day with a nourishing cream, especially the heels.
- Wear shoes that do not pinch for the first few days.
- Do not remove hard skin yourself with sharp objects.
Lashes
- Keep your lashes dry for the first 24 hours and avoid steam and saunas.
- Do not rub your eyes and do not pull at your lashes.
- Gently comb your lashes with a clean lash brush.
- Do not use an oily make-up remover around the eyes.
